Armenia y Argentina participarán en la Olimpiada Mundial de Ajedrez en linea

Entre julio y agosto, estos seleccionados competirán en los primeros juegos online. El gran maestro Levón Aronian será protagonista de la competencia.
Las selecciones de Argentina y Armenia participarán entre el 22 de julio y el 30 de agosto de la primera Olimpiada Mundial de Ajedrez en línea. La organización pospuso el torneo presencial para 2021.
Los 163 equipos nacionales de los juegos están conformados por doce jugadores (seis titulares y seis suplentes), integrados por seis hombre y seis mujeres. Además, es obligatoria la presencia de menores de 20 años en los equipos y como mínimo un hombre y una mujer serán los competidores titulares.
Por el equipo de mujeres de Armenia, Elina Danielyan y Lilit Mkrtchyan serán las representantes principales. Bajo la dirección de Zaven Andriasyan, las suplentes son María Gorgyan y Susana Gaboyan. Respecto al equipo masculino armenio, el multicampeón Levon Aronian y Gabriel Sargsyan serán los competidores titulares. Dirigidos por Arshak Petrosyan, sus reservistas serán Hrant Melkumyan y Samvel Ter Sahakyan.
Por su parte, la Federación Argentina de Ajedrez (FADA) decidió apostar por los jóvenes talentos y convocó a 12 ajedrecistas sub-23.
Este año, la cita era presencial en Rusia. Pero, debido a la pandemia por coronavirus, la FIDE dispuso la realización de unas Olimpiadas Digitales por primera vez en la historia, y pospuso la realización de la Olimpiada (presencial) para el 2021. Se jugará al ritmo de 15 minutos por partida, más cinco segundos de incremento luego de cada lance y podrá ser seguida a través de la plataforma Chess.
